SUNDARBAN : PRIDE OF NATURE



 






The Sundarbans (Pron:/ˈsʊndəˌbʌnz/) (Bengali: সুন্দরবন, Shundorbôn) is the largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world. The Sundarbans is UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE covering parts of Bangladesh and Indian state of West bengal.
Two-third of the Sundarbans is in Bangladesh and the remaining third in West bengal , India. The Sundarban national park is a national park, Tiger reserve, and a Biosphere reserve located in the Sundarbans delta in the Indian state of West bengal. Sundarbans south east and west  are three protected forests in Bangladesh. This region is densely covered by mangrove forest, and is one of the largest reserves for the Bengal tiger. Fauna The Sundarbans hosts a large variety of animals. It is the last stronghold of the Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris). Within the forest habitats there are about 50 species of mammals, about 320 species of inland and migratory birds, about 50 species of reptiles, 8 species of amphibians, and about 400 species of fish.
sundarban is the world biggest mangrove forest. In Bangladesh tourism, Sundarban plays the most vital role. A large number of foreigners come to Bangladesh every year only to visit this unique mangrove forest. Besides, local tourists also go to visit Sundarban every year. The area of great Sundarban is approximately 6000 sq. km. famous Royal Bengal Tiger, wildlife viewing, boating inside the forest will call recordings, nature study, meeting fishermen, wood-cutters and honey-collectors, peace and tranquility in the wilderness, seeing the world's largest mangrove forest and the revering beauty.


How to go :  If you are interested to go to sundarban, Usually it is convenient to start from the nearby island of Mongla (Khulna) or sadarghat (Dhaka)  by a variety of different boats, such as speedboats and cabin cruisers.
