HIRON POINT



The Sundarbans is the largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world. The name Sundarban can be literally translated as beautiful forest in the Bengali language. The forest lies at the feet of the Ganges and it became inscribed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1997.  The forest covers an area of approximately 10,000 sq. km. Hiron Point is a beautiful spot, great for spotting tigers and other spectacular and rare wildlife animals. Also known as Nilkamal, it is famous for tiger, deer, monkey, crocodiles and many precious birds. The visitors can get a comfortable stay in the three-storied Rest House of the Mongla Port Authority with prior booking. How to go : The nearest airport to Sundarbans is the Dum Dum airport at Kolkata, which is nearly 166 km and approximately 48 km. away, the Canning railway station is the nearest railhead from Sundarbans.

If you are interested to go to hiron point, Usually it is convenient to start from the nearby island of Mongla (Khulna) or sadarghat (Dhaka)  by a variety of different boats, such as speedboats and cabin cruisers.
Hiron point is around 24 hours launch travel from shadarghat, Dhaka. And 17 hours from   BIWT terminal(Khulna). This is a amazing travel of any season.
